Abstract:
The Montana Precipitation Timing is an
expression of the percentage of annual precipitation that occurs within the
growing season. The percentage of
precipitation is based on 30-year average precipitation data within the growing
season. The growing season is defined as
May 1 – September 30.
Purpose:
For
display of precipitation timing within a growing season (5/1-9/30) across

Data
was extracted from 30-year average precipitation data (1971-2000). Lines were digitized denoting the percentage
of precipitation that falls within the growing season. These isolines were attributed with
appropriate values of percentage of precipitation falling within the growing season.

Interpolated
Montana Precipitation Timing from digitized isolines.
